InOne Projects brings its team up to speed on AI

Robert Nati wanted his team working from the same starting point, not picking up AI tool by tool on their own. Better People ran a single practical session that gave everyone at InOne Projects that starting point, and a way to keep building on it together.

The opportunity

InOne Projects is a full-service commercial fit-out and construction specialist based in Sydney, running design, project management and construction under one roof for clients across commercial, industrial, government, medical, retail and hospitality work.

AI use was already spreading across the construction industry, and inside InOne's own business, one person at a time. Robert Nati, InOne's Managing Director, wanted to get ahead of that rather than let it stay uneven: bring the whole team to a shared, practical starting point together.

The goal was not just to get people using the tools. It was to get them talking to each other about how they were using them, in a safe and transparent way.

The approach: understand it first, then put it to work

First

Before anyone opened a laptop, the session covered what these tools actually do, where they get things wrong, and the habits that catch it early.

Then

From there, the session moved straight into real work: drafting, summarising and researching using the kind of tasks InOne's team handles every day.

Treat every AI answer like a claim, not a fact. Verify it before it goes anywhere.

Hands-on from the first ten minutes

The session opened on a live demo, not a slide deck, and stayed hands-on the whole way through. Participants worked through real scenarios, drafting, checking and researching, with short knowledge checks along the way to keep everyone engaged rather than watching.

Fluency on the tools they already had

  • The session ran on Microsoft Copilot, the tool already sitting in InOne's day to day, not a new platform layered on top of everything else.
  • Examples were drawn from the kind of work InOne's team already handles, so the practice felt like real work rather than generic exercises.
  • Content and pacing were built around where the team's AI experience already stood, rather than a standard script run the same way everywhere.

What was delivered

  • Whole-of-business session
  • Live demos
  • Real work scenarios
  • Knowledge checks throughout

The training was extremely clear and the interactive approach made the experience enjoyable. Great presentation, great information.

What other construction businesses can take from this

Start everyone together

InOne treated this as a whole-of-business session rather than a rollout to one team at a time, so everyone started from the same place.

Keep the runway short

InOne moved from first conversation to a delivered session in three weeks, rather than letting planning drag on.

Build skills, not tool habits

InOne chose training built around fluency and judgement rather than one product, so the skills carry across Copilot, Gemini, Claude or whatever the team picks up next.
