That usually means one of three things: the training has to run on your own data rather than sample datasets, it has to follow the workflows and platform decisions your team has already made, or your requirements are specific enough that no standard course was written for them. In each case we design the curriculum around your environment and deliver it.

How does the Privacy Act 2020 shape Databricks training in New Zealand?
New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, overseen by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, sets out thirteen information privacy principles. Two land directly on a data team: organisations must notify the Commissioner and affected people of a privacy breach that has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm, and personal information can only be disclosed overseas where it will be protected comparably.
In practice, that means a training environment built on masked or synthetic data inside your own workspace, and governance taught as the working skill it is. A team that can see at a glance who can reach which table, and what a leaked extract actually contained, can apply the serious-harm test quickly rather than guess at it.

What about the Algorithm Charter and Māori data sovereignty?
Government agencies that have signed the Algorithm Charter for Aotearoa New Zealand have committed to transparency, human oversight and considering the people affected when algorithms inform decisions. Many organisations, public and private, also work with the principles of Māori data sovereignty published by Te Mana Raraunga, the Māori Data Sovereignty Network.
Neither is a Databricks feature, and how your organisation honours them is its own decision. What training can do is make sure the platform supports it: data classified and tagged so it can be governed differently, access that reflects who should see what, and a documented record of which models use which data.
What changes for financial services teams in New Zealand?
Banks, insurers and other institutions regulated by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand work to its guidance on cyber resilience, which sets expectations for governance, access control, third-party and cloud risk, and incident response.
The guidance is principles-based, which leaves a good deal to each institution's judgement. At the time of writing, Microsoft Azure and AWS both operate cloud regions in New Zealand and Google Cloud has announced one. Databricks does not run in every cloud region, though, so many New Zealand teams run their workspace in Australia.
