When standard Databricks training doesn't fit
Databricks Academy's standard curriculum is the right starting point for many teams. We're for the teams it doesn't fit.
That usually means one of three things: the training has to run on your own data rather than sample datasets, it has to follow the workflows and platform decisions your team has already made, or your requirements are specific enough that no standard course was written for them. In each case we design the curriculum around your environment and deliver it.

How does the Data Privacy Act shape Databricks training in the Philippines?
The Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173), enforced by the National Privacy Commission, governs how personal information is processed. The Commission's rules require notifying it, and affected individuals, of qualifying personal data breaches within 72 hours of becoming aware of them.
Seventy-two hours is not long to work out what a breach touched. Training runs on masked, synthetic or governed data in your own workspace and concentrates on the controls that make that question answerable quickly: who could reach the data, what was queried, and where it flowed.

What about shared services and outsourcing teams?
Data teams in shared services centres and outsourcing providers often build on a Databricks workspace that belongs to a parent company or client in another country. They work to Philippine law and to the governance of whoever owns the platform, and the training has to fit both.
We build training for that setup: working within permissions set elsewhere, following the owner's standards for pipelines and code, and leaving a clear record of what was done and why.
What changes for banks and financial institutions?
Banks and other institutions supervised by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) work to its guidelines on information technology risk management, which set expectations for IT governance, access control, outsourcing and cloud use.
BSP expects institutions to manage outsourcing and cloud risk actively, which matters when a workspace is hosted outside the Philippines. Custom training covers the Databricks practices that make that easier to evidence: least-privilege access, audit logs, lineage, and controlled promotion into production. Your risk and compliance teams own the mapping.
Where does your Databricks workspace sit?
At the time of writing, none of AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud operates a full cloud region in the Philippines, so most teams run Databricks in a nearby region such as Singapore, or on a parent company’s workspace elsewhere. We build training on the cloud, region and workspace you actually use, because networking, storage and identity all differ between them.

Can the training run on our own Databricks workspace and data?
Yes, and that is the point of it. Sessions run on your own workspace and catalog structure, using masked, synthetic or appropriately governed data wherever the Data Privacy Act or your internal policy means real personal data should not be used for practice.
Can you train a team that works on a parent company's or client's workspace?
Yes. We scope the training around the access your team actually has, and where it helps, work with the workspace owner to set up a suitable training environment. The material reflects how your team works on that platform, not a generic sandbox.
How is this different from Databricks Academy?
They serve different needs. Databricks Academy's standard curriculum is the right starting point for many teams. We are for the teams it does not fit: training that has to run on your own data, follow your workflows or meet specific requirements.
