Copilot Chat or Microsoft 365 Copilot?
Microsoft uses the Copilot name for more than one product, and most organisations have both: the free Chat for everyone and the paid licence for some. They need different training, so we confirm in discovery who has which.

The training levels
Each level is a standalone half-day. Most teams run them in sequence, with time in between to put the last one to work. The content is set in discovery around the work your cohort actually does.
Level 1: AI Fluency
A shared foundation for a mixed room: how AI works, why it gets things wrong, what is safe to put into it, and the judgment to review what comes out. The thinking is tool-agnostic. The practice is in Copilot, on your real work.

Level 2: Practical AI with Microsoft 365 Copilot
Most people meet Copilot in the chat box and stop there. It also lives inside Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint, and that is where the hours go. We go deep on the applications your cohort actually uses most, at the depth their work calls for.

Level 3: Automations and Agents with Microsoft 365
Level 2 makes one person faster at one task. Level 3 is where work starts running without them: Microsoft's prebuilt agents such as Researcher and Analyst, agents your team builds in Agent Builder or Copilot Studio, and flows. The skill that matters is knowing which one a job needs. Most ideas that arrive as "let's build an agent" turn out to be a flow, or a saved prompt.

We would not recommend starting at Level 3, the level most organisations currently pick and the reason their AI programs stall. Building on a gap automates the gap.
Why fluency comes first
You cannot build on judgment your people do not have.
Skip fluency and you scale mistakes, not capability. A team that does not know why AI gets things wrong will not check it, and a team that does not understand grounding will put data where it should not go. The licences are already paid for; fluency is what makes them earn their keep.
Copilot and your data
Copilot works inside the permissions you already have, which is exactly why it exposes weak ones. Three things we cover with every cohort, and settle with IT before the first session.
Oversharing shows up fast
Copilot can surface anything a person already has permission to open. Old sites and folders shared too widely become visible in answers, so permission clean-up belongs before rollout, not after.
Sensitivity labels travel with the content
Labels applied in Microsoft Purview carry through to what Copilot produces from labelled files, so a confidential source does not quietly become an unlabelled draft.
Data loss prevention sets the limits
Purview DLP policies can stop Copilot from using labelled content at all. We teach people what those limits mean at their desk, so the controls read as sense rather than friction.

What does Microsoft Copilot training cover?
Our Copilot training covers three half-day levels: AI fluency, practical use of Copilot across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook, and building agents and automations. Each session is built around real tasks from your team's daily work rather than generic examples.
How long does Microsoft Copilot training take?
Each level is a half-day, around four hours. Teams can take one level or run all three as a pathway, usually with a few weeks between sessions to put each one to work.
How much does Copilot training cost in Australia?
Copilot training starts at $5,000 + GST for one cohort at one level, $9,500 for two levels, and $13,500 for the full three-level pathway. We price the cohort, not the person. No headcount limit. For groups above 30, we recommend a teaching assistant in the room.
Do we need Microsoft 365 Copilot licences before the training?
Yes. Participants need active M365 Copilot licences to do the hands-on exercises. We confirm what your organisation has enabled during discovery and shape the session around it.
Which Copilot training level should we start at?
Most organisations should start at Level 1, including many who think they should not. Daily use is not the same as competent use. If your people can already explain why Copilot hallucinates, what grounding does to their data, and where the guardrails sit, we start at Level 2.
Do you deliver Copilot training onsite in Australia?
Yes. We are based in Australia and deliver onsite globally, or live online for distributed teams. The curriculum and the hands-on approach are the same either way.
Is Copilot training suitable for non-technical staff?
Yes. No technical background is assumed and there is no coding in any of the three levels. The training is built for people who write, analyse, plan, advise and decide.
What if our team has very different roles?
We run separate cohorts by team or function rather than one large all-hands session. Sales and marketing have very different Copilot use cases to finance and legal, and building the session around a specific group's work is what makes the training transfer.
Can you train our whole organisation on Copilot?
Yes. Where teams have genuinely different workflows, each becomes its own cohort. One broad session for everyone is cheaper. Several tailored ones are what actually transfer.
Do you cover Copilot agents and Copilot Studio?
Yes, in Level 3. That covers Microsoft's prebuilt agents such as Researcher and Analyst, and agents built in Agent Builder or Copilot Studio. We start with the judgment of choosing between an agent, a flow and a saved prompt, then go deep on whichever your cohort needs. Agents need licensed Copilot users, which we confirm in discovery.
Is there free Microsoft Copilot training?
Yes. Microsoft Learn has free Copilot courses, and Copilot Academy in Viva Learning has role-based paths for Microsoft 365 users. They are a good start for individuals. Custom training adds what they cannot: your data, your roles, your policies and your workflows, with a whole team building the same habits together.
What is the difference between Copilot Chat and Microsoft 365 Copilot?
Copilot Chat is included with eligible Microsoft 365 plans and works mainly from the web and files you upload. Microsoft 365 Copilot is a paid licence that adds Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, grounded in your own email, meetings, chats and files, plus prebuilt and custom agents.
How long does it take to learn Copilot?
The basics take an hour or two. Using it well takes practice on your own work, which is why our levels are a half-day each and spaced a few weeks apart, with thirty days of follow-up after each session so the habit forms on real tasks rather than exercises.
Can Copilot training be delivered in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth?
Yes. We deliver onsite at your offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and other cities, or live online for teams spread across locations. The content and the hands-on format are the same either way. Travel is billed at cost.
We use Copilot and another AI tool. Does that work?
Yes. Most organisations end up running more than one AI tool, and the useful question is which tool suits which work. We cover that in discovery rather than assuming you are consolidating.
